Hello my amazing readers,
How are you all doing?
No, I haven't vanished (not that you noticed!). My last post was back in early December, and here we are, already approaching the end of the first quarter of 2025.
Back in January 2024, I released Weave, the first book in my "Dark Shadows" series—a thriller that combines political conspiracy, ancient history, advanced technology, and dangerous megalomaniacs. Looking back, it's interesting to see how I hit on a few relevant notes about the direction of AI and the role of tech billionaires!
I'm getting close to finishing the second book in the series, The Reclaimer. It's another blend of geopolitics, conspiracy, tech, and some cool ancient historical "stuff." I'm expecting to release it in March.
What's next? As I've probably mentioned, I want to end 2025 with my next trilogy, "The Greatest Enemy." For those of you who've read my Cleopatra or Spartacus books, I think you'll enjoy this one too. Keep an eye out for announcements in the coming months.
What about that virtual voice audiobook I talked about months ago?
Well, it's never that simple, is it? I regularly get messages asking if I'm ever going to release a narrated audiobook. Unfortunately, for many reasons, I don't think I'll get there. But I'm working hard on releasing a virtual voice version of Dangerous Daughter for those who just want to listen. It's taken a lot of work, and I enlisted my wife to help me, because I want it to sound good. I think it's coming along quite nicely! You'll all get it free to try and let me know what you think. Depending on the reception, I might extend the concept to my other books.
Don't care for audiobooks? In any case, with everything going on around us, you might want to escape the current world and lose yourself in the past. Fear not, your majesties, help is right below. Pick something! Here are three standalone recommendations:
* Want to step into ancient Egypt during the Amarna period of Queen Nefertiti? Read Crimson Aten (it’s 4.8 on Goodreads)
* Tired of Egypt and Rome? Want to go to the cradle of civilization in 2000 BC Sumer and immerse yourself in a murder mystery, conspiracy, and political intrigue? Read The Death Pit.
* How about this whole Atlantis thing? Or even better, Atlantis vs. Egypt! Check out the Wrath of God.
All these books blend a lot of known history with a tale!
And before I say bye for now, here's a picture from a recent trip. That’s Mt. Baker in Washington, US. Despite all our stresses, the world is a beautiful place.
I wish you all happiness, prosperity, and good health.
Jay.
